○ Our trip had us sleep on the ship and go on excursions during the day. Don't expect to spend the night on land. Don't worry, once you reach the Antarctic waters the ship is quite stable.
○ You may be able to fly there rather than taking a ship. This saves you the Drake Channel crossing and a few days' worth of travel time.
○ Other trips start from the other side of the continent, i.e. Australia. You'll get a different perspective of the continent from that direction, but the distance from Australia to Antarctica is a bit further given that there isn't a peninsula to visit on that side.
○ We mentioned the gear earlier, but it's no joke - bring many layers! Some days were hotter than we expected, so be prepared to go out wearing a light jacket if it's sunny. Going through Buenos Aires meant we needed shorts and T-shirts anyway!
○ We did not have any cash in the local currency but managed just fine with our credit cards. As long as you don't have big foreign transaction fees on your plan, you will be too.
