○ This is a rainforest, and unless you choose the timing carefully you're likely to get wet! Pick late summer days for the best chances of sun.
○ Day hikes are popular from the visitor's center, and you can see a good portion of the river and its tributaries with just a few hours of walking. To get to the glacier, though, you'll want to spend at least a night, and that's the main attraction, right? We spent five nights there and don't regret any of them.
○ Getting to the glacier requires scaling a makeshift ladder down a rather steep ravine, which can be tricky for some. You'll get a helpful warning in your email along with instructions if you get a permit for the trail. Remember to lean forward and don't look down!
○ You can view the glacier from two locations, the lateral or terminal moraines. If you have the time, see both! If you have to choose one, go for the lateral moraine for a better view of Olympus' peaks behind the glacier, but understand that the hike there is a bit longer and tougher and has little shade or water.
