I love photographing moving water. Inevitably, when I do, I end up with my boot in the river. The trick is to get a stable platform to get a long exposure, and finding one with the right angle on your subject sometimes requires a little creativity with with the nearby landscape. Here, I made do with my tripod at a ridiculous angle, held only by one leg just over a two meter drop.
In general, however, I don't end up having to go too far. Here I just climbed down a couple of boulders to a cozy viewpoint close to the falls. My boots and feet were thankful.
Sneaking up on little critters is tricky. Sometimes the best strategy is to lay in wait and hope they come right in front of you. Here, Dhvani takes up a position near a talus teeming with pika in the hopes of catching one in the act of calling out to its friends.
Mountaintops are cold. Here I am waiting for the clouds to pass to get better light on the other peaks around us. Staying low to the rocks like this helps me avoid strong winds, the main cause of the shivers up there.
